St Woolos Hospital

131 Stow Hill, Newport NP20 4SZ, UK – 01633 234234

My mum was treated here. The staff were so kind to her and welcoming to us. They made us feel like we were friends.

Parts of the hospital could do with a fresh lick of paint and the parking is a nightmare which are the only reasons I’ve knocked a star off. The staff are lovely and welcoming and my treatment here was fantastic. I visited a few times a week for a few weeks and quite enjoyed seeing a familiar face. Lovely hospital just don’t try and find a parking space within 20mins.

Royal Gwent Hospital

Cardiff Rd, Newport NP20 2UB, UK – 01633 234234

I spent 5 weeks in c5 West if I remember rightly. The care I received was excellent. The nurses always stayed focused and bright even at the end of their shift, even the house keepers started the day with a smile. It all helped the healing process.

Some staff are helpful and others aren't. It's a huge building and it's easy to get lost there although there are plenty of signs. It has lifts to all floors although only 2 out of 6 were working when I was last there

St Joseph's Hospital

Harding Ave, Newport NP20 6ZE, UK – 01633 820300

My husband needed a full medical to be able to re-apply for his PSV licence which was due to expire earlier this month. He was quoted £140 by our local GP practice but he couldn't get an appointment for at least 5 weeks and were dismissive of him when he made the aware that his livelihood relied on this medical. Someone recommended St Joseph's Hospital. When my husband telephoned on Thursday, he was quoted £110 for a full medical, and they were able to accommodate him Tuesday the following week. The Consultant was very professional, spending over 1 hour with my husband and he underwent one of the most thorough medicals he has ever had in his life. The Consultant completed the paperwork for the DVLA and he received his new licence 2 weeks later to enable him to continue to drive for another year. I would not hesitate in recommending St Joseph's Hospital for this type of medical as you know you are going to be in good hands, your welfare will be thoroughly looked after, the paperwork will be completed correctly, and the fee is less than you'd pay to see your local GP.

Friendly, welcoming and above all provided comprehensive consultation which meant I didn't have the anxiety associated with eight month NHS wait. Adding review for those like me deciding whether to self fund treatment at St Joseph's.

The new NHS website below is very well worth a look. Hospitals are not only listed but evaluated. I certainly know which ones I would go to! At the very least you will know what questions to ask if you are sent to one which has not entered its data. Good luck!
